Kingston, 1 Janaury 2023. Jamaica Cuba Friendship Association joins with the rest of progressive humanity in commemorating, the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban revolution, over the US-backed dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, as an epoch -making event for the ordinary people, of this world, the likes of which have not been replicated since then.
What captivated our minds most of all, was the powerful and liberating example that this action represented for the struggling peoples of the world, especially those in our region, who are desperate to throw of the yoke of oppression that dehumanizes their day-day existence, which is part an parcel of the diet that US empire and its lackeys ‘dishes’ out.
We are equally cognizant of the fact of the severe back-lash that this revolutionary action led by the historic leader of the Cuban revolution Fidel, triggered within the empire, which included a vile campaign of subterfuge, unprecedented media manipulation, diplomatic isolation, biological warfare, assassination attempts, counter-revolution , mercenary invasion an exorbitant ‘bribery’ of USD20 billion titled Alliance for Progress within the region, that was designed to wean countries away from the ‘corrosive’ example and influence of our sister country.
A disruptive influence which threatened the very foundation of the status quo, in the so-called ‘back-yard’ of the most powerful economic and military empire in the history of mankind.
However, the single greatest obstacle to the development of the Cuban society remains the Illegal, criminal, and inhumane 60-year-old plus economic financial and commercial blockade, that the majority of humanity’s representative in the United Nation General Assembly for last 30 consecutive years, have consistently called for its unconditional removal.
Our brothers and in the homeland of Marti, Maceo, Mariana Grajales, Haydee Santamaria, Fidel, Raul and Diez Canel, can continue to count on the support of their Jamaican counterparts, as together we stand against the moribund empire and its lackeys in their undeclared war against our sister country.
In the words of Bob Marley. ‘we know we shall win, as we are confident in the victory of good over evil’.
We shall Overcome
