Federation of Cuban Women and Women's Movement of the People's National Party of Jamaica hold virtual meeting.

Kingston, 9 January 2023.  The Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), chaired by its Secretary General Teresa Amarelle Boué, held a virtual meeting with a delegation of the Women's Movement of the People's National Party (PNP), led by its President Patricia Duncan Sutherland.

During the meeting, the Secretary General of the FMC provided detailed information on the protection of women's rights as enshrined in the new Family Code. The occasion was also an opportunity to denounce the negative impact of the blockade on the full development and advancement of women in our country, in particular during the COIVD-19 pandemic.

Patricia Duncan shared her views on the considerable increase in domestic violence and the need to restore family values in Jamaican society. In this regard, she gave a positive assessment of the content of the new Family Code in Cuba.

Both parties agreed on the importance of strengthening the links between both organisations for the benefit of their respective memberships.
