Kingston, 9 February 2023. Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica Fermín Quiñones Sánchez paid a working visit to the Saint Mary's region.
During his visit, he spoke at the monthly session of the Municipal Council, in which he ratified our country's willingness to strengthen cooperation ties with Jamaica despite the limitations imposed by the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba. Members of the Council and government agencies present acknowledged in their speeches the historical cooperation of Cuba with Jamaica in the fields of education, health and agriculture.
As part of the visit, the Ambassador paid tribute to Tacky, an exponent of the struggles against slavery and British colonial rule in Jamaica. The Cuban diplomat was accompanied by the Mayor of the city, Mr. Richard Creary; as well as members of the House of Representatives for the Saint Mary region, Dr. Morais Guy and Robert Montague.
