Cuba in the Roadmap of the United Arab Emirates, in the Year of Sustainability 2023.

COP28

Dubai, February 28, 2023. The diplomatic staff of the Cuban embassy in the United Arab Emirates participated this Monday in the workshop "Global Roadmap in the Year of Sustainability 2023", coordinated by the Diplomatic Engagement Office of the Expo City Dubai, host organization for the next United Nations Conference of the Parties for Climate Change COP 28 next November. The meeting brought together representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the United Arab Emirates.

In introductory words, the H.E. Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister for International Development Affairs at the Emirati Foreign Ministry, explained the reasons for the Gulf State to declare 2023 as the "Year of Sustainability". The concept, he argued, is linked to the raison d'être of the Middle Eastern nation, since its creation and its policy of contributing to numerous programs aimed at sustainability and climate change mitigation in the developing world.

The Cuban ambassador, Norberto Carlos Escalona Carrillo, conveyed to the organizers the will of the Caribbean Island to contribute to the common agenda, from the protempore presidency of Cuba in the Group of 77 + China.
