From Portmore, the Cuba Solidarity Movement raises its voice against the US blockade against Cuba.

Portmore, 16 April 2023. Members of the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association (JCFA), parliamentary members of the Jamaica-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group and representatives of the Association of Graduate Students in Cuba participated in an event to denounce the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against our country, convened by the Middlesex chapter of the JCFA.

In the interventions made, the important role played by Cuba in the development of Jamaica and other nations around the world was recognised. The harmful impact of the genocidal policy of the blockade on all sectors of society was denounced, and the resilience of our people was recognised. Those present also demanded the exclusion of the Greater Antilles from the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism.

Second Secretary Rolando Dávila, representing the state mission, thanked the Jamaican people and government for their continued solidarity and support in the struggle for the lifting of the blockade. He assured that the struggle would continue until victory was achieved.

As part of this event, a campaign was launched to collect signatures to demand the immediate lifting of the blockade by the US government.

This activity was part of the commemorations for the 62nd anniversary of the Victory of Playa Girón.
