Vientiane, 29 de abril, 2023.The member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, expressed his satisfaction upon verifying the excellent state of party and government relations with Laos.
It is necessary to continue working tirelessly so that these are a symbol of what the links between socialist countries should be, Comrade Morales stressed when meeting with the member of the Political Bureau and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (PPRL), Comrade Bounthong Chitmany.
The senior Cuban party leader expressed the aspiration to be able to achieve greater interaction between the Party schools of the two countries and that PPRL leadership cadres visit Cuba to receive training courses there.
The Communist Party of Cuba highly values the political relations with the PPRL and it is in its interest to strengthen them, stressed Morales, who thanked the permanent support offered by Laos to the fight against the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States, "the main obstacle for our development."
In this sense, he explained that the intensification of the US siege to levels never seen before, together with the consequences of climate change and the complex international scenario have caused a complicated economic situation for Cuba.
On the other hand, he referred to the implementation of the agreements of the VIII Party Congress and listed the main priorities of that organization in the political-ideological and economic-social battles.
Comrade Chitmany offered the visitors a detailed explanation of the internal situation in Laos, pointed out the main directions of work of the PPRL and expressed his admiration for the achievements and progress of the Cuban biotechnology industry.
He expressed interest in strengthening collaboration, especially in the fields of public health and sports, as well as exploring new areas of cooperation in spheres in which both parties have possibilities and interests.
The vice president of Laos also congratulated Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on his re-election, applauded the constitution of a new National Assembly of People's Power, and reiterated the condemnation of the blockade policy used by the United States against Cuba for more than 60 years old.
At the end of the meeting between Morales and Chitmany, three important documents were signed: a cooperation agreement between the PPRL and the PCC for the period 2023-2028 and a memorandum of understanding between the National Political and Public Administration Academy of Laos and the Higher School of the Ñico López Party, of Cuba.
In addition, a cooperation and exchange agreement between the Union of Young Communists of Cuba and the Union of Lao Revolutionary Popular Youth.
Morales and the delegation that accompanies him arrived here the day before for a three-day visit that is part of a tour of China, Laos and Vietnam, considered an opportunity to continue promoting political dialogue at the highest level and contribute to promoting the development of the economic, commercial, financial and cooperation relations.
