Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said here on Friday that the usual relations of friendship and collaboration with Cuba could advance and strengthen even more in the coming years.
Hun Sen’s statements were contained in a message to Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, in which he stressed that “the trust placed in you for the second term by Cuban citizens will undoubtedly be a source of further inspiration for you to continue the historic march in the promotion of your country’s future welfare, resilience and prosperity.”
In 2022, Cambodia and Cuba developed an intense bilateral agenda, with exchanges of visits by their heads of Government and the initialing of new cooperation agreements, among other actions.
Hun Sen, in fact, became the Kingdom’s first senior leader to travel to Havana since Cuba’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation with Southeast Asia (TAC) two years ago.
During his stay in Cuba, Hun Sen and President Miguel Diaz-Canel witnessed the signing of several agreements in the healthcare, sports and international relations sectors.
Phnom Penh and Havana established diplomatic relations on April 15, 1960. Both countries, active members of the Non-Aligned Movement, have developed bilateral dialogue at the highest level and Cambodia maintains its support for Cuba in its struggle against the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade
