The Ambassador of Cuba in Indonesia offers an interview on the history and prestige of the Cuban Cigars in the world

Jakarta, May 2- Within the framework of two events held in this capital for the promotion of the Cuban Cigar, the Ambassador of Cuba in Indonesia, Tania Velázquez López, offered an interview to the "Cigar-Universe" Magazine about the history and prestige of Cuban tobacco, as well as on the empowerment of Cuban women in the tobacco industry.

The Cuban diplomat expressed that the history of the Cuban cigars dates back to the 1600s and its reputation has endured thanks to a combination of geography and skills, as well as the work and effort of generations that have managed to make this product the most recognized Worldwide.

Likewise, she thanked the serious work being carried out in this country by the Indonesian company PT Tembakau International, until now the only one authorized to distribute Cuban tobacco in Indonesia, while commenting on the two successful events held in this capital "Noche del Habano ", with the live sample of a Cuban cigar roller, as part of the promotional work in this country on the Cuban Cigar.

Regarding the activity of women in the tobacco industry, she also stated that they are playing an increasingly important role in this sphere worldwide, not only as consumers, but also as prominent figures in its manufacture. She exemplified that in the Cuban tobacco industry, the participation of women is essential in all agricultural and tobacco manufacturing processes, in fact, many processes are carried out by women. Their knowledge and skills contribute to the development of such a unique product, such as "Habanos Cigars".

Regarding the sphere of cooperation and business, the interview was propitious to also comment on the cooperation projects that the Greater Antilles is working with Indonesia and ASEAN to strengthen relations, the development of the Cuban biopharmaceutical industry, the production of own covid vaccines, as well as the potential for future business and investment by Indonesian companies in the Mariel Economic Development Zone.
