Riyadh, June 5th - The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Republic of Yemen, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, received the Ambassador of Cuba in that Arab nation, with residence in Riyadh, Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada.
The main purpose of the meeting was to deliver the letter from the President of the Republic of Cuba, Dr. Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, addressed to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, inviting to attend the summit of Heads of State and Government of the Group of 77 plus China (G77+China), to be held in Havana from September 15th to 16th, 2023.
Cuba has summoned this big event in its current capacity as pro-tempore president of the G77+China and under the theme "Current development challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation". Its principal goal is to analyze and debate the main challenges and core issues of the development of South nations and the contribution of science, technology and innovation to sustainable development.
The Ambassador and the Foreign Minister also took advantage of this opportunity to broadly exchange on other issues of common interest and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Cuba and Yemen, which celebrated last year 2022 the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
