Banjul, May 13, 2017. Members of the Gambia-Cuba Friendship Association and the José Martí Association of Graduates in Cuba met on Saturday May 13 at the island's diplomatic mission to once again express their support to the Cuban Revolution.
Amongst those who spoke, the president of the Gambia-Cuba Friendship Association, Mr. Modou P. Grant, highlighted the support of the Gambian solidarity movement for all the battles fought by the Cuban people, especially the fight against the blockade and more recently for the liberation of the Cuban Five.
Attendees also exchanged views on the importance of the Fifth Continental African Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba to be held in Namibia and ensured that
efforts would be made for Gambia to be represented there.
For his part, ambassador Lázaro Herrera expressed the eternal gratitude to the members of the movement for the support given to the Cuban people and expressed the conviction that the friends of Cuba will deploy their initiative to ensure that Gambia is represented in the important continental encounter.
The Cuban diplomat called also for support for the cause of the Venezuelan people, victim of a ferocious counterrevolutionary offensive on all fronts, based on terrorist and destabilizing actions, orchestrated and financed from abroad, to put an end to the Bolivarian process.
