In the framework of the 45th anniversary of the historic dialogue of 1978 between our Commander in Chief and a representative group of emigrants, as well as the 170th anniversary of the birth of José Martí, we gather precisely in the place where the Apostle arrived on his way to Caracas to pay homage to the Liberator, the lighthouse and guide, together with Chávez, of the Bolivarian Revolution:
WE DECLARE
First: Our commitment to the defence of the Homeland and the most absolute loyalty to the struggle of our people for sovereignty and independence, as well as the will of all the Associations of Cuban Residents in Latin America and the Caribbean, to coordinate and implement joint actions in the interests of the Homeland.
Second: To consolidate the unity of Cubans living abroad, strengthening the joint, dynamic and diverse work among all the associations of the Region and the world, to strengthen the message of aid to Cuba, in order to move forward, counting on all Cuban emigrants committed to the Homeland.
Third: To continue permanently and relentlessly the struggle against the blockade, as well as against the inclusion of Cuba on the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism and for the return of the territory illegally occupied by a US naval base in Guantanamo Bay.
Fourth: Maintain repudiation and activism in the face of attempts by the US government and its lackeys to subvert the political and institutional order in Cuba.
Fifth: Strengthen links and coordination, both at the regional level and in the countries of residence, with the movements of solidarity with our homeland.
Sixth: Intensify the use of social networks as a useful tool to help counter subversive and destabilising campaigns of hatred and disinformation that threaten the image of Cuba and our people.
Seventh: To increase our contribution to the socio-economic development of the Homeland with a greater participation in the opportunities offered by Cuba's business portfolio, in terms of trade and investment.
Eighth: Promote and execute activities aimed at involving the new generations of Cubans living abroad in favour of Cuba, instilling in them patriotic values and knowledge of Cuban history and culture.
La Guaira, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, June 17, 2023.
Signed by the participants in the VI Regional Meeting of Cubans Residing in Latin America and the Caribbean
