Vientiane, June 15, 2023. The Minister of Justice of Cuba Oscar Silvera Martinez, made a successful visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic, fulfilling an official invitation from his counterpart Phayvy Sibualipha with whom he held fruitful bilateral meetings.
This is the first visit by a Minister of Justice to the Asian country, whose positive balance culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in legal matters, at the end of the initial session. Similarly, the Cuban official was received by senior leaders of the Asian country such as Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Vice President of the National Assembly Dr. Chaleun Yiapahoer, by Supreme Court President Viengtone Siphandone, Supreme Prosecutor Khoutphouthone, as well to visit places of historical and socio-cultural interest.
The visit provided the opportunity to thank the Lao counterpart for the solidarity that Laotian friends have always provided to Cuba and the permanent accompaniment in denouncing the criminal blockade that violates the human rights of all Cubans.
