Islamabad, August 30, 2023._ Adnan Qasim is a neurosurgeon in Dera Ghazi Khan, a city of 400,000 inhabitants in southeastern Punjab. Jamal Nasir, a surgeon in a clinic in his native Jhelum, about 120 kilometers from Islamabad. Akram Asi, a cardiologist, likes to be called Carlos. Dr. Rabia, a gynecologist, is a consultant at two hospitals in Islamabad. They all have something in common: they are graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba.
They, together with Dr. Ayaz Baloch - master in public health management - visited the Cuban Embassy on behalf of the more than 80 doctors trained on the island who have continued their studies and are now working as second degree specialists in different hospitals in Pakistan.
During the friendly exchange with the officials of the diplomatic mission, these young people shared anecdotes of their stay in Cuban universities and their experiences as doctors at the service of the Pakistani population. Stories of personal improvement marked by gratitude to the small Caribbean island that allowed them to train as professionals and by their commitment to the values of humanism and dedication they learned there.
After the dialogue and the pictures, the commitment to meet again in their cities, to visit them and share with those who - like them - make the dream of the Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro come true when in 2006 he launched the idea of the training program for young Pakistani students (EMBACUBA PAKISTAN).
