Cuban Ambassador in Laos offers interview to the media about bilateral relations and G77

Vientiane, September 2023. The Cuban Ambassador to the Lao PDR, Enna Viant Valdés highlighted the positive results achieved in the state visit of the Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith to Cuba on September 13 and 14, which constituted a new milestone in bilateral relations. This visit was announced by the Cuban president Miguel Diaz Canel as the inauguration of the celebration of activities vis a vis  the 50 anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024.

She highlighted the reception of Sisoulith in Havana as an extraordinary event in correspondence with the close and traditional ties between parties, governments and peoples, committed to continuing the political dialogue between their leaders and expanding their mutually beneficial collaborative relationships. She also highlighted the valuable support of the RDPL in the acceptance of Cuba as a member of the ASEAN Interparliamentary Association (AIPA), a condition ratified at the 44th conference that took place in Jakarta last August.

Viant Valdés alluded to the expressions of gratitude from Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel to his Lao counterpart, for his important contribution and support to the development of bilateral relations, the just demand for the elimination of the blockade and the necessary contribution to the success of the Summit of the Group of 77 and China, of which it is also a member.

Regarding the G77 Summit event that will be held on the 15th and 16th, the diplomat confirmed that Cuba is ready for its celebration and will have the participation of dozens of dignitaries from more than 100 delegations from the 134 member countries and a number of more than 500 journalists. from different media that will cover the great event. He reported on the adoption of the final declaration discussed and approved in New York, which will be a key document to specify joint, fair and decisive actions for the development of the countries of the South, where the intention to establish a new, more inclusive and supportive order prevails. and cooperative.
