Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba meets with Head of Government of St Kitts and Nevis
Basseterre, September 17, 2023: The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Hon Dr. Terrance Drew, visited Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella at the offices of the Cuban Embassy. The Cuban Deputy Prime Minister is in this Federation heading a delegation to participate in the commemorations of the 40th anniversary of independence.
During the fraternal meeting, Jorge Luis Perdomo expressed his satisfaction for being in this sister nation and for the possibility of taking part in the celebrations for the four decades of independence, which are celebrated on September 19.
Dr. Drew, for his part, conveyed gratitude to the Cuban government, on behalf of his people, for the historical collaboration in health matters, ratifying the recognition and prestige enjoyed by the medical staff working in the Federation. He also expressed his gratitude for the possibility that Cuba offers to young people who, like him, have studied at Cuban universities. He recalled his time as a medical student in Villa Clara between 1998 and 2005, of which he keeps fond memories.
At another time during the meeting, issues related to the prospects for collaboration in the field of Cuban biotechnological products for use by the Caribbean Community were evaluated.
The condemnation of the blockade imposed by the United States government on the Cuban people for more than 60 years, was reiterated by Prime Minister Drew who emphasised the unwavering position of his government in the face of such an unjust and cruel policy.
Before concluding, the Cuban Deputy Prime Minister conveyed an invitation from President Díaz-Canel for Dr. Drew to visit Cuba.
Other members of the visiting delegation are Gustavo Daniel Véliz Olivares, Director of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean of the Cuban Foreign Ministry and Dr. Marcia Cobas Ruiz, Officer of the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers. Cuban Ambassador, David Rivero Pérez joined the retinue.
