Vientiane, September 2023. The Embassy of Cuba in this capital, conveys a message of gratitude for the consistent support of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, in the 78th period of sessions of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization (UNGA).
In one of the moments of the forceful intervention of the Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Saleumxay Kommasith expressed….“My country continues to join the global call to lift the economic embargo against Cuba and to remove this country from the list of sponsors of terrorism, and to end all unilateral coercive measures”…
No less important has been his conviction that Cuba should not be included in the so-called list of countries sponsoring terrorism, due to its inconsistency and contradictory nature of sanctioning a country that has been a direct victim of this scourge and has maintained a position of condemning it in all its manifestations.
Laos has permanently maintained its support for the Cuban resolution approved within the UNGA, and its extraterritorial character, which in turn has the support of the overwhelming majority of UN member countries since 1992.
