Stockholm, March 13, 2024 - Co-sponsored by the Cervantes Institute of Stockholm and the Latin American Embassies in the Swedish capital, the XII Festival of Ibero-American Cultures is being held, dedicated to the theme of “Urban Space: coexistence and culture”.
The dance work INSIDE OUT, starring a Swedish dancer and a Cuban dancer, delighted the audience in the first part of Cuba's day at the event. This production, born from the collaboration between Memory Wax Dance Company based in Malmö and Danza Retazos from Cuba, showed once again that culture is always an effective link and that dance has in itself a universal language.
Next, the Director of Cultural Management of the Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana, Katia Cárdenas Jiménez, presented and commented from Havana on the documentary “Rutas y Andares 2022” by Karen Brito, in which the work carried out by the Office to bring our museums closer to the heart of each inhabitant of the city stands out.
In his words to the public as part of the conduction of the event, the Counselor of the Cuban Embassy Eddy Santos, highlighted the capacity of dance to allow each individual to build its own dream through it, and also pointed out how heritage forms part of the individual's daily life, and is incorporated into it as a means of enrichment.
This was an opportunity to show aspects of Cuban cultural heritage, loved by so many in the world.
