Declaration of Solidarity with Cuba in the Face of Subversion

Our Cuban Comrades,

We continue to stand with you in the face of foreign-backed subversion, where the same entity responsible for the suffering in Cuba aims to co-opt the people’s legitimate frustration. Our solidarity with the Cuban Revolution is unwavering, and we have demonstrated that. In July 2021, when a similar wave of unrest was exploited by forces outside of Cuba, we made sure to show up in person to vigilantly watch the security situation that Cuban embassy staff and non-political residents were faced with.

We are aware of the growing suffering in Cuba as an intentional outcome of the US-imposed blockade that is supported by Israel. As individuals and as a movement, we continue efforts to educate people about the history and rationale of economic warfare and foreign intervention. We are aware of the sinister motives of the imperialists, as well as the true character of the “activists” who offer themselves as imperialist assets.

We see this confrontation as not just one of Socialism versus Capitalism, but also of humanity versus inhumanity. Every legitimate nation must be free to pursue its own path, where it chooses its own government and model of development, without any fear of coercion. With political motives and inhumane rhetoric, we have seen how the USA has unilaterally imposed sanctions and related destabilisation tactics to strangle the economies and societies of Cuba and other nations. Along with its puppets and allies, the US has also aimed to strangle other countries that want to maintain their independence; the most notable of these are Venezuela, Nicaragua, Iran, the DPRK, China, and Russia. The US has even threatened sanctions against Jamaica, Pakistan, and South Africa. Palestine is the only nation where the situation is more acute than Cuba, as it faces a genocide in addition to the blockade of Gaza and apartheid in the West Bank.

In their efforts to isolate individual countries that do not bow to their interests, the imperialists will be the ones who find themselves isolated because we are the majority in the world. The current situation in Cuba will not last forever. We must build stronger connections among the governments and social movements within each country and region, in order to more effectively resist the imperialists’ attempts to divide and destabilise us.

Sincerely,
