Cuban State Mission in Ghana celebrates International Women's Day.

Accra, March 8, 2024- The women of the State Mission of the Republic of Cuba in the Republic of Ghana were honoured by the male staff of the mission.

Men dedicated words of admiration to all women for the important role they play in society on regular basis, and presented them with personalised postcards.

March 8th should always be a reminder of the daily struggle of Cuban women for their comprehensive development, and of how far our country has come in achieving a more equitable society, spiced with women's inclusion.

In relation to the date, Dr. Arístides Gerardo Valdés Jaime, surgeon and member of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Sekondi, Ghana, recalled the antecedents of this celebration that dates back to 1910, when in the Second International Conference of Socialist Women in Copenhagen, Clara Zetkin proposed the celebration of "Working Women's Day". He also pointed out that in Cuba, although celebrations for the day began in 1931, it was not until the triumph of the Revolution that the real inclusion of women in our society was brought about.
