Cuba recognizes the contribution of the South Center to the presidency of the G77 and China in 2023

Geneva, April 23, 2024 - At the 24th meeting of the Council of Representatives of the South Center in Geneva, Switzerland, the Permanent Mission of Cuba recognized the Center's contribution to Cuba's chairmanship of the Group of 77 and China during the year 2023.

The representation of the largest of the Antilles emphasized the relevance of the support provided to the G77 and China, including the participation of the Center in the Summit held in Havana in September last year, to address the current challenges of development and the role of science, technology and innovation.

The Council of Representatives is held once a year and is the most important meeting of the South Center. The meeting addresses the institution's governance issues; and its 55 Member States have the opportunity to issue considerations and recommendations on the Center's work.

The members of this organization recognize the valuable work carried out by the Center, this "think tank" of the South, through studies, research and dissemination of highly useful literature for the Global South.
