Cape Coast, April 11, 2024. - The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Ghana, Anette Chao García, met with officials of the University of Cape Coast to discuss mutually beneficial future projects. Among the officials she met were the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sir. Samuel Esson Jonah; Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Harold Amonoo-Kuofi; and the Dean of International Relations, Dr. Samuel Bert Boadi-Kusi.
The Cuban official also took part in the ceremony in which the traditional leader Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II was awarded an honorary doctorate degree.
The University of Cape Coast was inaugurated in October 1962 and is the third in the African country. It has colleges of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, Humanities and Legal Studies, Education Studies, Distance Education and a School of Medical Sciences. There are also 19 faculties headed by deans.
Historically, Cuba and Ghana have had excellent relations in the area of education which will continue to be fostered in the future despite the limitations imposed by the commercial, economic and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America on the island.
