Meeting of the Cuban ambassador with the Director General of the United Nations and Human Rights of the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry

Colombo, August 27, 2024. At the headquarters of the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry, Cuban ambassador Andrés Marcelo González Garrido was received by Dayani Mendis, Director General of the United Nations and Human Rights of the Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, they referred to the reciprocal support in international forums and organizations of the United Nations.

The ambassador thanked Sri Lanka for its annual support in the UN vote on the Cuban resolution against the United States' economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba, as well as Sri Lanka being part of the group of 123 countries that issued a joint declaration at the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) demanding the exclusion of Cuba from the list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
