Cuban Ambassador in Basseterre is received at the Foreign Ministry in a work meeting.
Basseterre, August 28, 2024- The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, David Rivero Pérez, held a working meeting with the Senior Foreign Service Officer Mr. Michael Penny, Director of Legal and Security Affairs of the Foreign Ministry in Basseterre, who is temporarily replacing the Permanent Secretary of this Ministry.
During the cordial meeting, issues of common interest were addressed, while the Ambassador offered an update on the effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States has imposed on Cuba for the last 62 years. It is a deliberate act of economic warfare, which has been reinforced by the arbitrary inclusion of the Antillean nation on the State Department's unilateral list of alleged countries sponsoring terrorism.
Mr. Penny, expressed his disagreement with this cruel policy and reiterated the unwavering support for Cuba on behalf of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Likewise, he conveyed his recognition for the possibility that the Cuban government offers young people from different latitudes to study at universities in the country.
Jazzée Connor, an official from the Foreign Ministry, was also present at the meeting.
