On September 9 and 10, 2024, experts from the governments of Cuba and the United States held a seminar and a tabletop exercise as part of the implementation of the Cuba-US Bilateral Coordination Plan on the preparation and response to pollution caused by spills of hydrocarbons and other potentially dangerous substances in the Gulf of Mexico and the Straits of Florida. These exchanges respond to the Cooperation Agreement on the matter, signed between both countries on January 9, 2017.
