Ghana ratifies its solidarity with Cuba during the commemoration of the 64th Anniversary of the Moncada Barracks Assault

A Political-Cultural Activity was held at the Cuban Embassy in Accra to commemorate the 64th Anniversary of National Rebellion Day.

In his words of welcome to the participants, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i., Julio Cesar Sánchez Martínez, stressed the importance of the legacy of the Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, especially for his role in Cuba's solidarity with African peoples, and with Ghana in particular. He also thanked Ghana for its historic position, along with Cuba, in the fight against the blockade, imposed on Cuba for more than fifty years by successive U.S. administrations.

In the commemoration they intervened: the First Vice-President of the Ghana Trade Union Congress (TUC), Alexander Nyarko-Opoku; the President of the Association of Association of the Ghanaians trained in Cuba (ESBECAN), Gregory Parbey; the leader of the Socialist Forum of Ghana (FSG), Kwesi Pratt; the Ambassador appointed for Cuba, Napoleon Abdulai. All of them, during their speeches, paid tribute to the figure of Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, and ratified their solidarity with Cuba in the struggle for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade, and the support for the Island in face to the President Trump's attempt to return to the Cold War era in U.S.-Cuba relationship.

Present at the ceremony were former Foreign Affairs Minister, Victor Gbeho and the first Ghanaian Ambassador to Cuba, Kojo Amoo Gottfreid, as well as a representation of: the Ghanaian graduates in Cuba; the members of the Solidarity Campaign with Cuba; the Cubans living in Ghana; the members of the Cuban Medical Brigade. The commemoration of the 64th Anniversary confirmed that the ties between the two peoples, built by the Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in 1959, are indestructible.

The activity was covered by television channels, GTV and Panafrican Television.
