The revocation by the 47th president of the USA Donald J Trump, of his predecessor Joe Biden’s 6-day old removal of our sister country from spurious list of state sponsor of terrorism, is another clear example( if any was needed), that the policy of the United States of America administration towards Cuba, is irrational, brutal, cruel and devoid of any logic, except to fulfill the 34th president Dwight Eisenhower administration 1960 memorandum 499, which states in part, ‘the only foreseeable means of alienating internal support( of the revolutionary Cuban government) is through disenchantment and disaffection based on economic dissatisfaction and hardship’
How else can any sensible individual rationalized, a more than 6-decade-old policy that 13 successive US administration, using every nefarious, diabolic and destabilizing tactic in their arsenal including a mercenary invasion in 1961 at the Bay of Pigs which was routed by the heroic Cuban people in less than 72 hours, to try and turn back the revolution ending with the same results.
Importantly too, is that during this undeclared economic war and siege of our sister country, theirs a demonstrable cavalier and contempt for the sanctity of human life, that the denial of food, medicine, fuel and other basic supplies that are essential for day to human existence have had on the Cuban population.
If any parallels of the impact of the empire’s genocidal conduct are needed, we need to look no further than the human carnage that is taking place against the courageous Palestinian people, where a settler-colony apartheid state of Israel rains down 2000lb bombs on victims that are primarily children between the ages of 5-9 and women who represent 70% of the people 47,035, 111,091,11,000, killed, wounded and missing respectively. The bombs manufacturer, funding, political and diplomatic support were courtesy of the Yankee empire.
Now that their exist in the White House not only the architect of 243 sanctions during his first ‘bat at the wicket’(to use a cricketing term), coupled with a second imposition of a state sponsor of terrorism designation, ably supported by a secretary of state in Marco Rubio, a person of Cuban origins who have distinguished himself as one of the most odious enemies of the Cuban people, there is an expectant air that this ‘dream team’ can achieve what the 13 previous occupants of the White house have not being able so far to do.
However, in their diabolic quest, they first will have to contend with the majority of humanity’s citizen who from their various organizations of one kind or another have called for a ‘hands off Cuba’ and a unconditional lifting of the illegal, criminal and genocidal blockade.
Secondly from a heroic and resolute people, whose stance was best expressed by their president ‘Diaz Canel during the ‘March of the Combative People’ on December 20, 2024: ‘How little they know the Cuban people, they still underestimate our patriotic and revolutionary conviction’.
Finally in the words of Cuba’s National Hero and ‘Bronze Titan’ ‘Whoever tries to appropriate Cuba, will collect the dust of its soil drenched in blood, if he does not perish in the struggle’.
