United by the love of José Martí

Kingston, January 31, 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, received at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission the board of the Association of Graduates of the ‘José Martí’ Technical High School, headed by its president, Gary Mendez.

The members of the Association acknowledged the deep ties that have united the Embassy with the school since its foundation in 1976. They showed interest in the Bilateral Scholarship Programme offered by our country, describing it as an invaluable opportunity for young Jamaicans. They also stressed the importance for the current students of the school to deepen the study of the life and work of the Apostle.

For his part, the Cuban Ambassador gave an update on the situation facing Cuba, as a result of the intensification of the genocidal policy of the blockade and the continuation of the spurious, unilateral and discredited list of State sponsors of terrorism. He ratified the mission's interest in continuing to develop joint actions to diversify the areas of cooperation with this centre of studies and to pay tribute to the most universal of Cubans.
