Prime Minister of Singapore receives the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs

Singapore, February 17, 2025.- The Hon. Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Singapore, received Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, who is on an official visit to that country.

The Cuban Foreign Minister congratulated the people of Singapore on the 60th Anniversary of its independence, while conveying the greetings of President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to the Prime Minister and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

As part of his bilateral agenda, Rodríguez Parrilla held official talks with his counterpart Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan. Both parties highlighted the friendship and warmth of relations between the two countries, and the willingness to strengthen and diversify them, to reach a higher stage.

The occasion was propitious to recognize Singapore's support for Cuba's just claim to end the genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, and its inclusion in the illegal List of Countries Sponsoring Terrorism. Additionally, he thanked the Singapore government for the donation in solidarity with the effects of the hurricanes in 2024.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore recognized the progress of bilateral economic-trade and cooperation ties in tourism, port administration, health, import and export, and other sectors.

Rodríguez Parrilla was also received by the Hon. Mr Lee Hsieng Loong, Senior Minister; and by the Hon. Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry.
