Cuban Ambassador meets with Director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the Dutch Foreign Ministry

The Hague, March 17, 2025. The Cuban ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Eva Yelina Silva Walker, was received by the director of the Western Hemisphere Department, Marjan Kamstra, at the Dutch Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the two reviewed bilateral relations between Cuba and the Kingdom of the Netherlands and discussed topics of common interest such as climate change, sustainable development, the importance of multilateralism, and the defense of international law.

The Cuban ambassador explained, using examples, the impacts the unjust economic, financial, and commercial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than 60 years has had on the Cuban people, limiting the island's economic development.

Both diplomats agreed on their desire to continue strengthening bilateral ties, both from a commercial perspective and in priority sectors such as culture, education, and combating climate change.

Diplomatic relations between Cuba and the Kingdom of the Netherlands will celebrate their 122nd Anniversary next July.
