With the presence of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, the Fourth International Colloquium "Patria" was inaugurated. The event is being held in Cuba until March 19th under the motto "We are peoples weaving networks."
The event takes place as part of the Cuban Press Day and coincides with the 133rd anniversary of the newspaper founded by José Martí, from which it takes its name, and celebrates the 20th anniversary of teleSUR. It brings together more than 400 guests from 47 countries.
The opening ceremony was also presided over by Roberto Morales Ojeda, a member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba; Ricardo Ronquillo Bello, President of the Union of Cuban Journalists; and other leaders.
