Finnish Secretary of State Highlights Cuban Ambassador's Work in Promoting Bilateral Ties

Helsinki, April 3, 2025.- The Secretary of State of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Mr. Jukka Salovaara, highlighted the efforts of the Cuban Ambassador, Ms. Beatriz Parra González, in promoting the cultural and historical values ​​that characterize the bilateral relationship, as well as in fostering new economic and trade initiatives between Havana and Helsinki.

Likewise, the Finnish official highlighted the Caribbean representative's performance as coordinator of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Ambassadors residing in Helsinki, a period during which important projects were promoted to bring Finland closer to our region.

During the meeting, held in the context of her farewell activities, the Cuban diplomat expressed her gratitude to the Finnish authorities for the historic relationship between the two nations, for their early support of the Revolutionary Government in January 1959, and for their historic support for Cuba's denunciation of the US blockade. She also highlighted issues in the bilateral history and expressed her gratitude for the support provided by the authorities from the various areas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during her time in Finland.

Also participating in this event were the Director General for the region, HE Ms. Ana-Kaissa Heikkinen; the Acting Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, HE Mr. Michael Langstrom; the Deputy Director General for Protocol, HE Mr. Christian Lindholm; and Counselor Pilvi Taipale. Also present at the meeting were key leaders of the Finland-Cuba Association, the Finnish Communist Party, the Finland-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, and representatives from the economic and commercial spheres, who have maintained close ties with the Cuban representative, who is about to conclude her mission in Finland.
