The Secretary of State of the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Mr. Jukka Salovaara, highlighted the efforts of the Cuban Ambassador, Ms. Beatriz Parra González, in promoting the cultural and historical values ​​that characterize the bilateral relationship, as well as in fostering new economic and trade initiatives between Havana and Helsinki. Likewise, the Finnish official highlighted the Caribbean representative's performance as coordinator of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Ambassadors residing in Helsinki, a period during which important projects were promoted to bring Finland closer to our region. During the meeting, held in the context of her farewell activities, the Cuban diplomat expressed her gratitude to the Finnish authorities for the historic relationship between the two nations, for their early support of the Revolutionary Government in January 1959, and for their historic support for Cuba's denunciation of the US blockade.

This Tuesday, the Cuban company GELECT, received Mr. Marko Mäki-Laurila, Director of Pyramidos Oy, a solar panel producer in Finland. During the exchange, the parties discussed topics of commercial interest with a view to future trade relations. Authorities from the Cuban company Gelect participated in this meeting, where Mr. Mäki-Laurila learned about the future prospects of this business in Cuba.

Happy New Year 2025!

On December 20, more than 500,000 Havana residents, representing the people, led by Army General and leader of the Revolution, Raúl Castro Ruz, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, marched in front of the United States Embassy in a massive demonstration against the blockade and the inclusion of the country on the list of State sponsors of terrorism drawn up by the State Department. The rally was a great demonstration of popular support for the Revolution, as well as a show of unity in which the joy, confidence and optimism of the Cubans could be appreciated despite the daily difficulties caused by the maximum pressure policy of the American government. It was a march for life, honor, dignity and for the future of the heroic and peaceful people. Of great symbolism was the encouraging presence of Raúl as the main representative of that historic generation that led us to victory in 1959, walking firmly alongside the youth, who carried forward the premise of not failing those who dedicated their lives to defending national sovereignty.
