Messages of Condolence from First Secretary of the CCP and Army General on the death of Lao Leader

Vientiane, April 5, 2025. The Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant Valdes, conveyed to her Lao counterpart a message of condolence from senior Cuban leaders to Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The message was published by the Pasaxon Lao newspaper. That same day, the Cuban diplomat signed the book of condolences and laid a wreath to pay heartfelt and solemn tribute to the deceased leader. Comrade Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic, and Comrade Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, have sent a message of condolence to Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The message reads as follows:

We express our deepest condolences for the passing of Comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and former President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. He was a prominent figure who fought tirelessly for the Revolution and national liberation, contributing to the independence of Laos. Furthermore, his work strengthened the bonds of friendship between Cuba and Laos, an invaluable and lasting legacy that will continue to inspire future generations and revolutionaries around the world.

In this moment of grief, we share our deepest condolences and solidarity with the Siphandon family and all their colleagues and friends, accompanying them in this difficult period of mourning."
