Third Secretary Roberto Soto Martínez, speaks on the occasion of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Kuwait. 49th session of the Human Rights Council’s UPR Working Group.

We extend a warm welcome to the delegation of the State of Kuwait and recognize the country’s commitment to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

We highlight Kuwait’s national efforts in implementing the New Kuwait 2035 national development plan and its fundamental pillars aimed at promoting and protecting human rights in the country.

We also commend the launch of the 2035 National Environmental Strategy and the establishment of the national task force on raising indicators related to women in Kuwait.  

In a constructive spirit, we recommend:

1. Continue to promote women's participation in national and international decision-making through implementation of inclusive, sustainable policies and strategies.
2. Continue building teachers' capacities for digital education to address the challenges of new technologies and provide quality education.

We wish the State of Kuwait success in this review and in implementing the accepted recommendations.
