III Meeting of Cubans Residents in Thailand

The Cuban Embassy in Thailand organized the III Meeting of Cuban Residents in Thailand as part of the strengthening of ties with the Cuban community abroad. The activity began with the singing of our national anthem and allowed to share experiences, reaffirm our national identity and discuss issues of common interest.

The event was attended by the Cuban Ambassador to Thailand, Pedro Pablo San Jorge Rodriguez and Consul Niurka de la O Mojena as well as representatives of the Cuban community living in various Thai cities.

Ambassador San Jorge gave an update on the economic, political and social situation of the country, highlighting the efforts made by the Cuban government to face the negative effects caused by the tightening of the U.S. blockade and the inclusion of our country in the List of Alleged Sponsors of Terrorism, which has a great impact on the development of Cuba's external and economic relations and on the welfare of our people.

Consul Niurka de la O informed about the recent introduction of biometric passports in the consulate in November 2024 and the electronic visa for foreign citizens since August last year.  He also communicated the forthcoming implementation of the service of request and digital issuance of Civil Registry certificates to Cubans living abroad.

The meeting was positively valued by the attendees, who expressed their appreciation for the initiative of the Embassy and its commitment to contribute to the development of Cuba from abroad. There was an understanding of the damage caused by the blockade and the current policy of President Trump, even in the normal relations of Cubans living abroad and their relatives in Cuba.
