Zimbabwean Student Exchange at the Cuban Embassy

Harare, June 16, 2025 – The Cuban Embassy in Zimbabwe hosted students from two secondary schools in Harare and Gokwe for an academic exchange on the consequences of the unilateral coercive measures imposed against both countries. The young people from Blessed Hope Academy and Mountain Bay School arrived under the leadership of Dr. Norbert Hosho, President of the Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions Trust. The Ambassador, Her Excellency Ms. Susellys Pérez Mesa, thanked the students for their visit, who were interested in learning about the reality of the Caribbean nation and the impact of the United States blockade. A brief presentation on the high cost of Washington's financial, economic, and commercial siege of the island was given by Second Secretary Zailin Gaulhiac Moráguez, who commemorated the birthday of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara. This presentation was complemented by various audiovisual materials and details presented by the Head of the Diplomatic Mission. The students expressed interest in delving deeper into the consequences of the blockade and what Cuba is doing to resist it and guarantee basic rights such as health and education. The head of the Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions trust praised the diplomats' presentations and highlighted the Cubans' ability to overcome difficulties and uphold the example of international solidarity.
