Accra, June 25, 2025. - Today, the Second Secretary of the Cuban Embassy in Ghana, Mr. Yamil Eduardo Martinez Marrero, acting as Chargé d'Affaires, received representatives of the Global African Heritage Foundation (GAHF) at the diplomatic mission's headquarters in the Ghanaian capital.
The small delegation was headed by its Executive Director, Peter Panyin Anam, and included Maana Esselfie-Quaye, his personal assistant, and Daniel Morrison, GAHF Secretary General. The purpose of the meeting was to donate copies of his recently published book, "Echoing the Voice of Peace: Quotes of Busumuro* Kofi Annan" and to discuss possible opportunities for future collaboration.
In view of Cuba's historical position with Africa and in pursuit of international solidarity, they requested that copies be given to Cuban personalities and institutions that promote peace, with special emphasis on the President of the Republic and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Cuban diplomat thanked them for the gesture and suggested other possible recipients. He also commented on the celebrations for the centenary of the birth of the historic leader of the Revolution and the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of his physical departure. In this context, they expressed their appreciation for the information received and they prompted the idea of preparing a piece on the life of the Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro. They described it as a gesture of gratitude they felt compelled to fulfill, echoing Fidel’s well-known maxim that Cuba’s actions have always been guided by a single purpose: to repay our debt to humanity.
*Note: The word ‘Busumuro’ (sometimes written as Bosomuro, Busumuru, or Bosumuru) is a traditional Ghanaian honorific title of great prestige, especially in Ashanti or Akan culture. It is a ceremonial title conferred on a person distinguished for extraordinary contributions to humanity or Ghana and can literally be interpreted as ‘protective spirit’ or ‘powerful spirit’. It is a symbol of wisdom, leadership and selfless service.
