Union, August 7, 2025—With the presence of the Honorable Shawn Edwards, Minister of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology, and Vocational Training of Saint Lucia, and Senator Pauline Antoine Prospere, Parliamentary Secretary in the High Administrative Body for the Education Sector, the official ceremony was held to award scholarships to the young beneficiaries of this program.
Eleven students will pursue degrees in Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Their families and other officials from the Ministry of Education were present at the emotional ceremony, in which the Minister expressed his gratitude for Cuba's collaboration with the sister island of Saint Lucia despite the complex economic situation in the largest of the Antilles.
For her part, the Cuban Ambassador to Saint Lucia, Yenielys Regueiferos, recalled the historic collaboration in human resource training in Saint Lucia and urged the students who benefited from the program to act accordingly with the opportunity presented to them today.
Dr. Arvelio Ballester Pérez, head of the Cuban Medical Brigade, was present at the event and received praise from those present for the commendable work of our healthcare workers on the island.
