Cuban and Swedish Ambassadors to Zimbabwe defend International law and Multilateralism

Harare, September 11, 2025—The Cuban Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Her Excellency Ms. Susellys Pérez Mesa, and her Swedish counterpart, His Excellency Mr. Per Lindgarde, agreed today on the need for respect for international law and multilateralism.

During a cordial meeting, the Ambassadors defended dialogue and diplomacy in the face of the challenges of the international agenda.

Perez Mesa and Lindgarde exposed each nation's ongoing projects with Zimbabwe and Cuba's and Sweden's relations with the african country, which in both cases were established in 1980, the year of independence.

The Cuban Head of Mission updated her counterpart on the status of relations with the United States and the upcoming vote, for the thirty-third time, on the resolution condemning the blockade imposed by Washington on the Caribbean nation.

She also acknowledged the traditional support of the European Union, along with almost the entire international community, for the statement calling for an end to the economic, financial, and trade blockade against Cuba, which has been in place for more than six decades.
