Cuban Ambassador attends rugby match between the All Blacks and the Springboks

Wellington, 14 September 2025.- The Ambassador of Cuba to New Zealand, Luis Ernesto Morejón Rodríguez, attended the rugby match between the All Blacks and the Springboks, in which the South African team won with a score of 43 to 10. His presence was in response to an invitation extended by the New Zealand Rugby Union and the High Commissioner of South Africa in Wellington, H.E. Johnny Sexwale, whom he accompanied after the match to the locker room to personally congratulate each member of the winning team.
Both teams, symbols of national identity and references in world sport, embody values of discipline, dedication, and team spirit that transcend the playing field and strengthen the bond between tradition and sporting excellence.
The occasion provided a cordial exchange with Mr. Mark Alexander and Mr. Matthew Cooper, Presidents of the Rugby Federations of South Africa and New Zealand, respectively, to whom he conveyed his recognition for the work they carry out in promoting this sport.
During the halftime break, the Ambassador also had the opportunity to greet the Right Honourable Chris Hipkins, Leader of the Labour Party and Member of Parliament for Remutaka, to whom he expressed his gratitude for his customary cordiality and courtesy.
The Cuban Ambassador also conveyed his sincere appreciation to the High Commissioner of South Africa and to the New Zealand Rugby Union for the invitation and the opportunity to enjoy such a unique and unforgettable experience.
