100 Years with Fidel from Zimbabwe

Harare, September 22, 2025 – Members of the Cuban Embassy and the Medical Brigade in Zimbabwe today, in the centennial year, paid tribute to the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, before the monument that bears his name in this capital.

The commitment to the homeland and the daily fulfillment of the tasks assumed are the best consideration and contribution to the celebration of "100 Years with Fidel," emphasized Ambassador Susellys Pérez Mesa.

The Head of Mission recognized the outstanding work of the 14th Brigade during the recent period, highlighted by the island's Ministry of Public Health on the occasion of the Annual Meeting of Medical Contingent Directors held in Havana last July.

The occasion was opportune for the presentation of the new members of the current team, led by Dr. María Eugenia García, who works in six hospitals in Bulawayo and Harare, two major cities in this African country.

Pérez Mesa referred to elements of the annual report on the effects of the United States blockade over the past year, as well as the upcoming vote in the United Nations General Assembly, for the thirty-third time, on the resolution demanding its immediate lifting.

The participants reiterated their strong rejection of this hostile Washington policy, as the main cause hindering the country's development and economic and social recovery.

Dr. García also renewed the medical contingent's commitment to Cuba and the people of Zimbabwe by recalling the example of the Commander-in-Chief, to whom they dedicate their work as part of the activities celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth.
