Zimbabwe's Minister of Youth Receives Cuban Ambassador

Harare, October 2, 2025 – Zimbabwe's Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training, Tinoda Machakaire, today received the Cuban Ambassador, Her Excellency Ms. Susellys Pérez Mesa.

Machakaire and Pérez Mesa reaffirmed the excellent bilateral ties and their mutual desire to strengthen them in the areas of attention to youth.

They also discussed the possibilities of consolidating collaboration with the Union of Young Communists of Cuba, while the Ambassador outlined the event programs that will take place in the Caribbean nation next October and December.

The Head of the Diplomatic Mission updated the delegation on the impact of the US blockade imposed on the island more than 60 years ago.

In this regard, he emphasized the consequences of the hostile policy on youth and acknowledged Zimbabwe's traditional support against the blockade, including the most recent denunciation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Amon Murwira, during the high-level segment of the 80th session of the UNGA.

The Minister, meanwhile, explained the priorities of the work for this sector, which in this African country encompasses approximately 5.4 million young people between the ages of 15 and 35.

Machakaire and Pérez Mesa recognized the importance of working with the new generations as a guarantee for the future of their respective countries.
