Castries, November 22, 2025 – A moving ceremony was held by the Cuban State Mission in Saint Lucia to pay tribute to the eternal Commander, Fidel Castro Ruz, on the ninth anniversary of his passing. The event also served as the venue for the delivery of a monetary donation from the Embassy staff and health and sports personnel, as a contribution to the victims of Hurricane Melissa in eastern Cuba.
Present at the ceremony were the Venezuelan Ambassador to Saint Lucia, Leiff Escalona, and the President of the Saint Lucia-Cuba Friendship Association, Marlene Alexander.
The texts and videos shown during the ceremony were profound, highlighting the legacy of the undefeated Fidel and expressing the gratitude of each member of the State Mission.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Norberto Ramos, head of the Cuban Medical Brigade in Saint Lucia.
Also significant was the moment dedicated to the historic fraternal relationship between Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez. Cuba's solidarity with the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will always be present, especially in these times of serious threat to the peace and stability of that nation.
