Cairo, November 25, 2025. As part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Cuban Embassy in Cairo participated in a photographic exhibition of prominent Ibero-American women in the arts and the fight against gender violence.
Cuba presented the renowned Cuban singer-songwriter Rochy Ameneiro, an artist whose lyrics address the status of women, the need for female empowerment, and the fight against violence.

Odalys Capote Peña, First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy highlighted Rochy's work, her project “Todas a Contracorriente” (All Against the Tide),a socio-cultural and community initiative founded by the artist that organizes workshops, concerts, and clubs and has become a network of Cuban women for non-violence, multiplying the work in every corner of the country.
The First Secretary also mentioned that this outstanding singer-songwriter created the cultural initiative “Corazón Feliz” (Happy Heart), whose main objective is to sow values, promote a culture of peace, and rescue national and Latin American identity among children through various artistic expressions, highlighting emotional support for children who have faced gender violence in their family environments.
In conclusion, the Cuban Embassy official stated that Rochy, through music and dialogue, has managed to mobilize a large number of artists and citizens, positioning herself as one of the most prominent voices of feminism in the Cuban cultural scene and an example of the use of art as a tool for raising awareness and preventing gender violence, demonstrating that art is a powerful engine for social transformation.
The event took place at the Cervantes Institute in Cairo. The program also included a lecture on the theme of art linked to the fight against gender violence by Solange Alvarado, director of the center for survivors of gender violence at the Attorney General's Office of the Dominican Republic, and a lecture on UNICEF and Egyptian government programs to address the issue of violence against girls and women by Natalia Winder Rossi, UNICEF representative in the country.
