Kingston, 17 December 2025. Ambassador Tania López Larroque presented to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, the copies of the letters of credence that will accredit her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Jamaica.
During the ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Jamaican Foreign Ministry, the close historical ties between the two countries were highlighted. The Ambassador conveyed her condolences to the Foreign Minister for the human and material damage caused by Hurricane Melissa, reaffirmed her willingness to continue strengthening friendly relations and cooperation with Jamaica, and thanked the Caribbean country for its continued support for the resolution condemning the blockade presented by Cuba to the United Nations.
For her part, the Jamaican Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the new Cuban representative, conveyed her best wishes for the success of her diplomatic mission, and reiterated her gratitude for Cuba's valuable support to the Jamaican people in the areas of health and education.
