Bandung, December 23, 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to Indonesia, Dagmar González Grau, paid an official visit to Bandung on December 23, 2025, where she held a meeting with Erwan Setiawan, Vice Governor of West Java Province. During the meeting, discussions focused on the possibilities of cooperation in the sectors of health, education, environment, and disaster risk management. They also spoke about the possibility of developing activities in 2026, the Year of the Centennial of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

West Java is the most populous province in Indonesia with more than 50 million inhabitants, contributing nearly one-fifth of the national GDP. Its economic weight derives from a combination of industry, agriculture, commerce, and education, as well as its strategic proximity to Jakarta. The province frequently suffers landslides due to its mountainous topography and heavy rainfall. The combination of high population density, rapid urbanization, and geological vulnerability makes West Java one of the most critical provinces in terms of disaster risk and management.
