Delegation of Cuba´s statement during the Universal Periodic Review of Australia

Mr. President:

We welcome the delegation of Australia and acknowledge the country’s commitment to the Universal Periodic Review.

We urge Australia to step up efforts to reduce the gender pay gap, in both the public and private sectors.

With a constructive spirit, we make three recommendations:

1. Strengthen actions aimed at overcoming the inequalities faced by Aboriginal peoples in the country.
2. Adopt additional measures to address the exploitation of temporary migrant workers.
3. Reinforce the role of Primary Health Care Networks in providing services to rural and remote communities.

We wish Australia every success in this review and in the implementation of the recommendations.
