Cuba represented at an event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of trade unions in Laos

Vientiane, February 2nd, 2026. The Cuban Ambassador Enna Viant, participated in the main event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Federation of Trade Unions of Laos, presided over by Comrade Kikeo Khaykhamphitoun, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary  Party (LPRP) and president of the Lao Front for National Development.

The event saw broad participation from the Federation of Trade Unions of Laos, LFTU,  including vice presidents of ministries, organizations, and representatives from the capital and provinces of the Federation, as well as trade union members from across the country.

On this occasion, Comrade Kikeo Khaykhamphitoun delivered the opening address, while the head of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions, Comrade... Leyt Xayaphone also stated that, for the past 70 years, the Lao Federation of Trade Unions has strived to act in accordance with its functions, rights, and duties, implementing the resolutions of the Party Congress, the National Socioeconomic Development Plan, and related technical tasks. This has allowed the mass organization  to grow in both size  quantity and quality, as reflected in the holding of nine previous Trade Union Congresses across the country.

On the same occasion, the Independence Medal, Third Class, was awarded to the Central Committee of the Lao Federation of Trade Unions for its outstanding achievements in trade union activities over the past 70 years.
