Cuban Ambassador Attends Meeting with the Minister of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus

Nicosia, Cyprus, February 12, 2026. Responding to an invitation from the minister of justice and public order of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Costas Fitiris, the ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Rubén Pino Martínez, attended a meeting this Thursday with the Cypriot justice minister on the occasion of his assumption of office, in the context of Cyprus's temporary presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Sharing the invitation together with other representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Nicosia, the Cuban ambassador congratulated Costas Fitiris on his appointment, while also thanking him for the initiative to dedicate this respectful moment to the representatives of the attending missions and to promote closer engagement with the institution he leads.

In particular, Pino Martínez reiterated his willingness to coordinate specific bilateral meetings with the team that assists him in order to create a more formal exchange of opinions and knowledge related to jurisprudence between the two nations.

The reception by the minister of justice and public order served to identify new colleagues who had recently arrived in this capital, joining during this event the “diplomatic family” of this Eastern Mediterranean island, and even to welcome the new ambassador of Spain to Cyprus, Her Excellency Ms. Mercedes Alonso Frayle, who gladly agreed to document the meeting between the four only Ibero-American diplomatic representatives accredited in Nicosia (Cuba, Brazil, Portugal, and Spain, from left to right).
