The Cyprus minister of health receives the Cuban ambassador accredited to the island.

Nicosia, Cyprus, April 24, 2026. The Minister of Health of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Neophytos Charalambides, received this Friday the Cuban ambassador accredited in this capital, Mr. Rubén Pino Martínez, who held a fraternal bilateral meeting.

The health minister of the Mediterranean island welcomed the Cuban diplomat accompanied by part of his team from the Directorate of International Relations, whose authorities expressed feelings of solidarity with the Caribbean island, in view of the difficult economic situation that Cuba and its people are experiencing, as a result of the energy blockade imposed since the end of last January and the embargo policy in place for more than sixty years.

During this first official meeting, which marks the beginning of a new chapter of bilateral work in the field of health, the Cuban diplomat expressed his deep gratitude for the warm welcome received since his arrival in Cyprus, in the context of an already historical solidarity from this island toward Cuba, the result of a relationship that extends over more than 65 years and constitutes a fundamental pillar in the ties between both nations.

Nicosia, Cyprus, April 20, 2026 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in this capital, Rubén Pino Martínez, along with the diplomatic corps accredited here, participated in a meeting with the head of United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix, who recently arrived in Nicosia for a two-day visit to the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Khassim Diagne, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces in Cyprus (UNFICYP), who together held discussions with the diplomatic corps accredited in this capital on Monday, April 20.

The meeting took place in the area of ​​the former Nicosia airport, coinciding with the visit of the high-ranking United Nations official to the island. During his visit, he held exchanges with members of the Cuban Armed Forces' peacekeeping forces, the United Nations Police (UNPOL), civil affairs personnel working on peace in the conflict zone, representatives of Cypriot communities and civil society, and the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Nicosia.

Cypriots and Cubans pay tribute to the 65th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs victory.

Cypriots and Cubans—doctors, musicians, workers, artists, retirees, union members, and members of the Cyprus-Cuba Friendship Association—together with staff from the Cuban diplomatic mission in this capital, commemorated the 65th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs victory this Sunday, April 19.

Gathered at the historic Omonoia Sports Club “Vorios Polos” in the charming Kaimakli neighborhood of the Cypriot capital, the date made possible this long-awaited reunion between those who once traveled from this Mediterranean island to that other Caribbean island. Today, they preserve and cherish that shared friendship, born from their first trip to Cuba, and choose to do so with an admirable day of historical remembrance, music, song, and poetry.

Girón arrived hand in hand, with the verses and melodies of a distant island, yet one dear to the hearts of ordinary men and women, who, from ancient Greek to the rhythms of a rich Cuban son, reconstructed stories lived in that other latitude of the Antillean archipelago.

Cuban Embassy promotes positive exchange between the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and related entities in Cuba

Nicosia, Cyprus, April 18, 2026.- The Cuban embassy in this capital promoted last Thursday, April 16, a positive videoconference exchange between the Cyprus Shipping Chamber and a group of executives from related Cuban entities, during which opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the maritime-port sector were explored.

The meeting led by the Cuban ambassador in Nicosia, Rubén Pino Martínez, facilitated an initial informational exchange between Cuban entities and the Secretary General of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC), Mr. Alexandros Josphides, together with Mr. Sofoklis Chrysostomou, Maritime Manager and member of the board of directors of the aforementioned institution, representing numerous Cypriot shipping companies and sector businesses with proven and strategic performance in the Eastern Mediterranean area.

The cuban side was represented by Amaury Álvarez González, General Director of the Consignataria Mambisa Company, Luis Alberto González Nieto, Deputy Director of the Maritime Port Transport Business Group ¨GEMAR¨, Manuel Lázaro Corujo Bosque and Karen Alonso Rodríguez, Director and Specialist of the Business Group of the ¨Selecmar¨ Company, respectively, and Mirta Cristina Rippes Aller, from the Cuba Chamber of Commerce, among other participants linked to the respective Havana institutions.

The President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Receives the Cuban Ambassador in Nicosia

Nicosia, Cyprus, March 11, 2026. The President of the Parliament of the Republic of Cyprus, Her Excellency Mrs. Annita Demetriou, received in a courtesy visit and as his first official meeting, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, after he presented his credentials to the local government on February 20.

The also President of the DISY Party offered a warm and fraternal welcome to the Cuban diplomat at the usual headquarters of the House of Representatives in Nicosia, a meeting in which both parties reiterated their mutual gratitude for attending this scheduled meeting, which aims to deepen and diversify relations between the respective Parliaments and the legislative authorities of both nations.

During the day, a cordial and respectful exchange was promoted, where the Cuban diplomat updated the highest representative of the Cypriot parliament on the situation that Cuba is currently experiencing as a consequence of the sixty-year-old U.S. blockade policy and the executive order issued last January 29 by President Trump to prevent the access of oil to the island, and its terrible consequences for Cuba.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Lefkosia and to extend my congratulations on your appointment as Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Cyprus. I wish you every success in the performance of your duties and assure you that my government stands ready to assist you in your mandate.

Cyprus and Cuba have maintained diplomatic relations for sixty-five years. Cuba was among the very first countries to recognize the Republic of Cyprus upon its independence, on 22 November 1960, thereby laying the foundations of a relationship firmly anchored in the core principles of the United Nations Charter, including sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence.

Cuban Ambassador Attends Meeting with the Minister of Justice and Public Order of the Republic of Cyprus

Nicosia, Cyprus, February 12, 2026. Responding to an invitation from the minister of justice and public order of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Costas Fitiris, the ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Rubén Pino Martínez, attended a meeting this Thursday with the Cypriot justice minister on the occasion of his assumption of office, in the context of Cyprus's temporary presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Sharing the invitation together with other representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Nicosia, the Cuban ambassador congratulated Costas Fitiris on his appointment, while also thanking him for the initiative to dedicate this respectful moment to the representatives of the attending missions and to promote closer engagement with the institution he leads.

In particular, Pino Martínez reiterated his willingness to coordinate specific bilateral meetings with the team that assists him in order to create a more formal exchange of opinions and knowledge related to jurisprudence between the two nations.

Cuban ambassador in Cyprus participates in the year-end event of the United Democratic Youth Organization (EDON).

Nicosia, Cyprus, December 30, 2025. The Cuban ambassador to Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, participated this tuesday in the event organized by the United Democratic Youth (EDON) of Cyprus to say goodbye to the year that is coming to an end.

With young people from various districts of Paphos, Limassol, Famagusta, Larnaca, and Nicosia, the Cuban diplomat was able to share a lively and fraternal year-end gathering with members of the organization's leadership, including Seviros Koulas and Foteini Charalampous, Secretary General and Head of International Relations of the organization, respectively, along with a strong representation of the future and undisputed successor of the Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL).
